Yesterday, for the first time in my life, I felt all the magic of this day: an incredible immersion to the 19th century, old stories, waffles at the market, crowds of happy people. All thanks to the project @russkoe.rozhdestvo.

It's pretty hard to surprise me with something, but the organizers of this event succeeded.
Seriously, I didn't expect that it would be so spectacular to create a fairy tale in real life.

Russian Christmas in #Shuya is a real miracle. And it’s not the retro train or even the installations (although they are beautiful). There is a strange phenomenon called "The Spirit of Christmas", and sitting on the couch and choking on salads, you can not feel it.
No scent of New Year’s Eve overdose, the kind eyes of people around you and the strongest aura of the Christmas Miracle Park. I’m writing this with goosebumps.
It’s a real holiday you can only dream of. And the feeling of unity and kinship.

The town itself is old, with its history and a lot of churches, there is where to walk and what to see, so you should come for at least a couple of days. We were there for one day and arrived an hour before it got dark.

The city is old, very old, it keeps the memory of Tsarist Russia. For example, there is a restored train station built in 1896.
Three weeks ago, on Christmas Day, a retro train modeled at the end of the 19th century pulled up to the station, panting. It was carrying tourists and train drivers, dressed as people in black and white photographs from a museum, to the huge Russian Christmas festival.

The spirit of Christmas could be already felt at the station, which seemed to have been transferred from the 19th century right into our reality, accompanied by the monitors with train schedules written in ancient Russian script ─ the station has been restored so well.

Shuya itself is compact, decorated brightly enough, without pretentiousness. Encourages walking in the streets (local utility workers even clean the paths).

It was impossible to miss this! The magical Christmas weather made the laser show even more spectacular and the atmosphere of the holiday more fabulous. There are a lot of children, a wooden slide on the square and a steep slide where the laser show takes place.

The play of lights, the music, the smiles of passersby and friends ─ a beautifully spent day! Thanks to the creators of the magical fairy tale and the inspirers of our short trip.

We went to the Pavlovsky Palace for the Sadko puppet show and the retro Christmas ball. We were not only spectators, but also actively participated in the process. The atmosphere of the retro holiday took us back in time.

Dear friends, in my Stories today there are small snippets of that chrestomathic, choice, pre-revolutionary Christmas, which the festival @russkoe.rozhdestvo and so many people working in this field created for us.

I saw a lot of nativity scenes, a lot of multimedia… It seemed like nothing would surprise me! But… everything was done with soul, all in the same style; everything gets right in the heart! Super! Come back next year for a Russian Christmas in Shuya!

Performances for children outside and in the Pavlovsky Palace, master classes, photo zones, a tour of the palace, stories from an old suitcase for adults, ballroom dancing lessons for children, and a lot more for free. There weren’t many people everywhere, even on the last day of the festival there were places to visit freely.
